Windows 11 can’t access shared network printer Access Denied 0x00000709 error fix

Having trouble connecting to a shared network printer in Windows 11? Getting Access Denied, and/or error 0x00000709?

Thanks for the fix below from

  1. Go to group policy editor, then:Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates → Printers → Configure RPC connection settings

Check Enabled in the top left corner and select “RPC over named pipes” from the drop down saying “Protocol to use for outgoing RPC connections. I found that in this article.

2. Open registry editor and go to:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print

Create a new DWORD 32 bit value and name it RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled and set its value to 0 (default). I found that in this video.

3. Restart print spooler from services.msc and boom, you’re done. Just search the devices and printers list in the settings or go to explorer and connect the printer from the network tab.
